Roger Plante has announced his retirement from King Marketing.

Roger spent his last official day working the WRLA Building and Hardware Showcase held in Winnipeg. Roger started his career working as a district manager for Merchants Consolidated before joining King Marketing in January 1989. His first role at King was as district account manager for the Prairie Provinces and ultimately became King’s Vice President of Sales.

Roger quickly established relationships with the factories he represented and the customers he served. Roger liked to call himself a simple “Peddler”, but he was a mentor and coach to so many young sales reps and offered sage advice to all. Honesty and integrity were the traits of Roger’s warm and endearing personality, and he was never shy to share his opinions. Roger became a shareholder of King Marketing in 1995 on the retirement of Terry King.

In his personal life Roger was the President of the Manitoba Boxing Association for several years and has had shared ownership in thoroughbred racehorses.

Roger has received many sales awards over the years from the manufacturers he represented and was the original Peddler of the Year award winner at King Marketing, a trophy presented each year to a King sales representative in Roger’s name. He has received many well wishes from the industry he loved as he now deservedly takes life a little easier in his retirement.
