The Canada-U.S. Relationship: The Post-Pandemic Normal

Janice Gross Stein is the Belzberg Professor of Conflict Management in the Department of Political Science and was the Founding Director of the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto.

Ms. Stein believes the post-pandemic relationship between the U.S. and Canada is a stronger version of the immediate past. The United States has doubled down on Buy America and China as a threat. Both of these issues are at the top of the list of Canada’s concerns. There is no “building back better,” only “building back differently.”
