
Walmart Canada has announced Venessa Yates as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, with the company citing her experience in multiple countries and functions. Yates has worked with Walmart since 2016 and has held leadership positions at prominent retailers worldwide, including Walmart, Woolworths, and ALDI Stores. Walmart Canada’s growth trajectory is expected to continue under Yates’ leadership.
Gonzalo Gebara, the current Walmart President and CEO, will leave the company at the end of February to return to Argentina for his family and other interests. Walmart Canada’s transformation towards becoming the leading omnichannel retailer in the country has been accelerated by Gebara’s 25-year tenure.

In addition to Yates, Steve Schrobilgen is joining as Chief Operating Officer, End to End, overseeing Operations, Supply Chain, Real Estate, and Format. Schrobilgen, who currently serves as the Senior Vice President, Business Unit Leader for Walmart in the Western U.S., has demonstrated exceptional leadership and operational expertise over his 35-year career with Sam’s Club and Walmart.
